Parihoa

In 2018, five years after I bought Parihoa Farm, I was drawn to Roy’s Peninsula in West Wānaka, another place of astonishing beauty.  I built a modest home on the land here, which I called Synchronicity, and it has been an important place of peace, simplicity, and self-reflection for me.

Last Friday (September 6th 2024) I put this house, and the land it inhabits, on the market.

It’s been a tough decision.  This place means so much to me and I’ve poured so much energy into trying to be a good guardian of the land through conservation and protection of the land and the native species that make their homes here.

But as we’ve navigated the complexities of protecting and living in one of New Zealand’s most pristine locations, learning about how to harmonise land and humanity, the idea of the Parihoa Network has grown.  I’ve had to think about how the Network would come to life and what it will take to do so.

Originally, my goal was to sell Parihoa, the remarkable land that marked my transition from Singapore to New Zealand in 2013. But the universe had different plans, as it often does.   Despite an extensive marketing campaign, there was no interest from buyers.

So, I reimagined my vision, going in the direction the universe appeared to be nudging me.  I decided to keep Parihoa and make it the heart of the global Network, a place that embodies the spirit and physicality of what the Network represents.  This meant that Synchronicity needed to be sold instead, a process that is now underway: View Listing

The decision to attempt to create a global collective of good energy, aimed at reaching a million people worldwide, has not been taken lightly.   Just as this was a hard decision, there will be other hard decisions ahead, but this is the path that is opening up in front of me.

The Parihoa Network couldn’t exist until I sorted myself out. It’s been a six-year imaginative process to understand what true well-being looks like for me, what I want my life to be and to allow the idea to materialise. Each time I got close to birthing the idea, the vision would slip away.  Alongside my self-doubts, some of those close to me advised me to let it go.

But it wouldn’t let me go.

Most ideas never make it off the ground but I feel compelled to do what I can to bring this idea to life.  It may not come off;  but as Helen Keller said,  it will be ‘a daring adventure or nothing’ .

In the pages to come, I’ll share more of the story about how I reached this point in my life, and my dreams for the Parihoa Network, and how it evolves.  But my hope is that this isn’t my story, but our story, the story of the impact we can have on the world together through collective well-being and well-doing.
